CSV format reference

Your CSV must have a header row as the first line. The tool recognises these column names automatically (case-insensitive):

Column name(s)RequiredAccepted values
barcode_type, type, formatYescode128, code39, upca, ean13, qr
value, barcode_value, barcode, dataYesThe value to encode
label, label_name, name, titleNoHuman-readable label text

What the validator checks

  • Code 128: Value contains only standard printable ASCII characters (codes 32–126).
  • Code 39: Value contains only uppercase letters (A–Z), digits (0–9), and allowed symbols: - . $ / + %
  • UPC-A: Value is exactly 11 digits (check digit will be calculated) or 12 digits (check digit is validated).
  • EAN-13: Value is exactly 12 digits (check digit will be calculated) or 13 digits (check digit is validated).
  • QR Code: Any non-empty string is accepted. Very long strings produce denser QR patterns that may be harder to scan at small print sizes.
